BULL JUMPING CERMONY, HAMAR TRIBE HAMARS are one of the most known tribes in South Omo Zone (the only region in Ethiopia where 16 tribes live together), South West of ETHIOPIA. It is said that Hamars are made up of 16 different tribes existing in south omo and neighboring areas, ARI and MALE tribes are the two main mother races, has a close and strong blood and ritual relationship until the present day.

The hammer region occupies one-fourth of the land surface of the south omo zone, 222 km square kilometers. The climate is, on the whole, semi desert although there are some areas like buska which are moderate continental. Temperature extremes range from +40 centigrade in the region. There are three tribes living in the hammer region, which are hammer, kara and arbore tribes. The region is inhabited by 75000 people of the three tribes. The rate of natural population increase is 20 in per 1000 persons. Young people (those are below the age of 30) account for 60% of the population. Every week about 10 couples are married. At least half of the total families have one or two children and one-fourth have three and above. Average population density is 20.2 per square kilometer. Some mountainous regions like buska, lala, shanqo and kufer are densely populated in relatively. 3/4 of the population live up to 200 km away from the three business towns, and the rest populations live near to the towns.
